I just recently built a pulley system for it so that I can drive it from my countershaft so I''ve only really tried it the last few days. I''m having problems with clearances. The vertical slide has a fixed dovetail that fit directly onto a Lorch compound slide.

16/8/2017#0183;#32;My sheldon lathe had all the attachments for milling on the lathe with it and it worked very good for what it was designed to do. On occasion if my mill was in use and I needed to cut a slot or mill a simple flat i would do it on the lathe as it is a simple setup. Tomh .

Usually we prefer the biggest end mill possible for face milling since we want to remove a lot of material fast. But its a good idea to take the height of the work into consideration. For example In this case the 10mm end mill is not enough to complete the operation into two phases and with a 16mm end mill at the second pass we will use only some portion of the end mill which is not ideal.

13/7/2016#0183;#32;I think it is pretty obvious to all that a milling attachment for a lathe is a stopgap at best, something to perform occasional light milling if you only have a lathe. IMO a sturdy angle plate is far superior, especially if a shallow V groove is milled (using the lathe) that allows for very fast setups for milling keyways, cross drilling, etc.
The milling attachment is generally fixed in the place of the Compound rest of the lathe machine. It generally consists of a milling head and a spindle to hold the milling cutter which is mounted on the milling attachment. It consists of a motor that can act as a driving mechanism in the milling machine.
