Electric Mills: Just south of the town of Scooba in Kemper County, this mill begin with one of the first electric sawmills in the state. The town thrived until the 1950s, when the mill closed and the town dwindled. A lumber mill is in operation in this location, but the town has never recovered. When the mill was rebuilt after burning in 1892, a concrete dam and steam engine were installed.
